Brittany and the Sea
Brittany is maintaining close links with the sea. With over 2,700km of coastline and 95% of the population living less than 60km from the sea, this is a resolutely coastal region. Its history, its culture, its identity, its economy and its development are intimately linked with maritime and the coast.
As part of this, the economic activities linked to the sea world have in Brittany found an environment ideal for their development. Construction and repairing of ships, sea craft and fishing provide a solid base of economic activity.
It is from this base that manufacturers with high added value activities are born which complement, in a balanced way what Brittany has to offer in the sea sector:

The Mer Bretagne competitiveness cluster plays a structured role in this area by making performing and innovative companies work with the biggest research system in France in this domain.
