Algaïa : innovative seaweed food products

After having finalized seaweed-based aperitif biscuits, such as Soufflaïa, Algaïa has recently created a new dietetic vegetable oil, the Oléa.

The company is currently looking for a subcontractor for the first product, while the pilot series of the second one are in production.

Algaïa is supported by the CEVA, the Center for Study and Promotion of Algae, but also by Valorial (the Breton food industry cluster) that has financed the project up to 160 000 €.

Based in Lézardrieux in the county of Côtes d’Armor, Algaïa grows its seaweeds on its 5-hectare site. The company employs 5 associates and makes a 300 000 € turnover.
