The poulterer Savel up against the giants in the sector

É. Lefeuvre is the new MD of Savel (Lannilis), a family poultry business currently being reorganised. The Léon family created the company in 1968 and is now taking over the management of a strategic board of directors. It will deal with the major files for the company whilst the new MD takes charge of operations.

In a market dominated by the giants LDC and Gastronome, Savel produces high-end guinea fowl, young cockerels and corn-fed chickens on its three sites (Lannilis and Carhaix in Bretagne and La Séguinière in Pays de la Loire). Outside catering accounts for 83% of its turnover and major retail outlets 17%.

The company is intending to launch two new brands (Jean Léon et fils and Fermiers Solidaires) in addition to P’tit Duc and Jardin de Loire. Savel’s exports to 36 countries account for 48% of its turnover.
