The European University of Brittany launches Technosciences

The European University of Brittany (UEB) is launching Technosciences, a search engine listing the areas of scientific and technological expertise available in its member schools. It lists the equipment and its uses, as well as the expertise of some 160 research units. The new tool makes it easier for players in the socio-economic world to find the skill they are looking for. In fact, the main aims of Technosciences is to increase technology transfers, facilitate cooperative projects and improve the promotion of regional research.

The display of data on the Web, interfaced with the national Technéo gateway site, pinpoints the expertise of regional bodies and promotes their skills on a national level.

The project has been cofunded by La Direccte and UEB on a 50/50 basis and has a total cost of 175,300 euros. It took Bretagne Valorisation 18 months to collect and organise the information (areas of research, expertise, equipment, joint projects etc.) and put online more than 350 expertise data sheets. Technosciences is accessible from the UEB and Bretagne Valorisation websites. Brittany is the first region in France to use this type of data to develop synergy between the worlds of research and industry.
