The Paris Nautic Show 2011 The Breton event not to be missed!

For this 51st edition of the Nautic Show, Bretagne has displayed a great support in order to present all the activities of the Breton nautical sector, within nearly 1000m2 and three showrooms (construction sites, water sports, marine, offshore racing). In 2011, the collective dynamics was reinforced within the Brest and Lorient area, and around the two major events which will make the nautical headlines in France next year: the leg of the Volvo Ocean Race in Lorient and the Tonnerres de Brest 2012. This association of Breton protagonists took the shape of a partnership with the Nautic Show, around its two key showrooms, the Nautic café and the Nautic stage, which will be hosting entertaining activities and meetings on a daily basis.

The sea has become second nature in Bretagne, a region that made the best of a geography conducive to the practice of recreational water activities. In this area, Bretagne is a leading region in France and Europe, but it has also become a laboratory for new trends. And the greatest talents in the field of offshore racing, the best skippers, manufacturers, suppliers come from… Bretagne. This is where tomorrow’s boats are designed by companies which focus on niche markets, for which high-technology combined with the innovative power of Breton shipyards makes the difference.

This year, the Breton players from the nautical sector will be in Paris under the place brand BRETAGNE.

The cities of Brest and Lorient, and Bretagne as a whole have joined forces and established a partnership with the Nautic Café

2012 major maritime events Thanks to the leg of the Volvo Ocean Race in Lorient at the end of June and the Tonnerres de Brest in July, Bretagne will make the maritime headlines in 2012. The cities of Brest and Lorient will team up within a 200 m2 showroom where they’ll present their major events.

The leg of the Volvo Ocean Race in Lorient Next year in June, the Lorient port will be the host of a leg of the Volvo Ocean Race, the greatest ocean race ever. Since La Rochelle in 2002, no French port has been the scene of such an event. This stands as a genuine recognition for the European pole of offshore racing, where 70 skippers train every day ; the central area of the "sailing valley", a territory which goes from Brest to Vannes, and where the field of marine leisure, and more specifically offshore racing, represents 80% of the French expertise. Based in Lorient, the Franck Cammas’ "Groupama Sailing Team" will race for France during this extreme competition. We are looking forward to seeing you in Lorient from the 17th June until the 1st of July 2012, during what will be a first-rate competition, but also a huge popular, cultural and artistic festival, and a hub for economic development. The Tonnerres de Brest 2012 From the 13th until the 19th of July 2012, Brest will be the place to go for sea and maritime heritage lovers, thanks to this lively exhibition about the sea and the maritime world, which will celebrate its 20th anniversary. For nearly a week, thousands of sailors with hundreds of boats of all sizes will take part in this international maritime festival. From tall Ships to historical replicas, work units to skiffs, dinghies to the most modern of multihulls, from tugboats to icebreakers, from ship’s apprentices to old salts, and Navy Captains to professional skippers, all marine sectors will be represented and sailors will gather on the banks of the Brest port for a great moment of sharing, discovery and exchange. In the pure tradition of seafarers, the festival will take place day and night, both on land and sea. On the ocean, there will be a spectacular boat ballet ; on land, the exhibition about the jewels of the world maritime heritage will stand as an invitation to travel, and thematic animations and shows will delight everyone.
