Valorial Cluster
Foodstuffs of the Future
The Valorial innovation cluster (VALOrisation pour la Recherche et l’Innovation ALimentaire) falls within the excellent agricultural sector developed by Brittany. It was created in order to form a federation of all players in the agri-food sector (dairy, meat, poultry etc.), from production to consumption (growers, agri-food industries, suppliers, equipment providers, ingredients manufacturers etc.) in order to develop innovative partnership projects in association with research and training bodies. The task at hand is to increase the value of agricultural production, and to develop biotechnologies, new products and co-products.
136 State-Approved Projects
The cluster intends to focus on new food technologies, new functional ingredients, microbiology and food safety, and healthy nutrition. It has identified 4 priority fields of action:
- Adapting existing products to trends in distribution and consumption
- Developing new technologies in order to obtain products with higher added value
- Inventing and developing new products to match market trends
- Repositioning agricultural production towards the quality criteria sought after by agri-food industries.
136 projects have already been approved to date, for 122 M€ invested.
