In late September, the private research centre under Biotrial contract (Rennes, 250 researchers in France, UK, USA) inaugurated the new premises of 7,000 m² at University Heights Science Park in Newark in the USA. An investment of more than $30 million was required for buildings of more than one hundred beds to accommodate 2,000 healthy volunteers per year, who will be admitted under the 50 scheduled Phase 1 studies. This centre houses 20 researchers and expects a hundred within 5 years. Newark is one of the main centres for clinical trials and numerous Biotrial clients are a part of New Jersey’s Bio Pharmaceuticals Life Sciences Clusters which has 121,000 employees, while European pharmaceutical R&D has 115,000. This geographical proximity will allow it to support its customers throughout their early development operations of future drugs, at Rennes and Newark. This will also facilitate collaborations with experts and US scientists to develop new research programs while increasing the technological capabilities of the company.
