Blacknut launched the commercial version of its streaming video game platform last January.
For less than €15 a month, fans of video games can access more than 150 games online with a single click, with five new titles added every month. No need of a console or powerful PC to access Blacknut, no installation or download, an Internet connection is enough. The game can be started on the computer and finished on the television or mobile ‘phone.
The platform should also have new added functions: recommendations, game scoring, organising tournaments and score tables, sharing on social networks and registration and circulation of games. The start-up has forged partnerships with large video game publishers but it is also banking on independent productions to treat the general public to some rare gems.
Blacknut is hoping to win over 300,000 subscribers within five years by targeting all generations and all audiences. Ultimately, the company plans to produce or co-produce video games for its platform itself.
Supported by Rennes Atalante under the Emergys programme, Blacknut won the Start West Growth Award and the Bpifrance Digital Innovation Competition in 2016 as well as the i-Lab competition in June 2017. The company currently has about thirty employees and has raised €2.8M financing through Go Capital and Nestadio Capital.
