Cinq Degrés Ouest (Riec-sur-Belon, 25 employees) specialises in marketing shelled crustaceans and shellfish frozen by an innovative cyrogenic process and vacuum packed. The company is investing 2.7M in setting up in a new building on the port of Lorient. It wishes to diversify into fish, but its core business is still shelled lobster.
Its customers are 99% in outside catering but outlets are being negotiated for major retail outlets in Belgium. The company exports 40% of its products: Spain, Italy, England, China and Japan through its partnership with Euralis. The international market is dominated by the Canadians, but Asia is a significant area for development.
