Laboratoires Gilbert, specialised in the production of cosmetics and well-being (groupe Batteur, 26 brands including Algotherm, over 1900 references) in September launched their new industrial site at Plouédern, operational since January, which required an investment of €12 million.
With a line of automated and robotic packaging capable of outputting 80 bottles/min, the site can produce 26 million units per year against 10 million at the old site. The site produces pastes, liquids, hot pour products, and powders, which are packaged in jars, tubes and bottles. With 50% of production destined for their own brand and 50% for clients, the company generates 25% of sales through export, via a network of distributors in France and abroad, as well as subsidiaries in Hong Kong, Canada, Belgium, Italy and Dubai.
In May, the site hosted a delegation of 120 beauticians of the best institutes of Chinese spa chain Samun Lisa, who use and distribute Algotherm products. This partnership is 10 years old and has been renewed for another 5 years. In order to expand its international business, citing in particular the coming developments in South America and in Iran, the Made in France company is now associated with a natural label.
Moreover, Algotherm worked in 2016 on two major patents: Algosun, offering a range of solar with natural and biodegradable filters, and Algogène, which allowed the development of an anti-aging cream combining 4 different kinds of algae. Other products are in development for the next 5 years, especially in regards to algae-based food supplements.
