The Louverné site (650 employees) of the German Mann+Hummel group manufactures under-the-bonnet parts for the car industry, especially air filters and distributors. It has a prestigious customer portfolio, as PSA Peugeot Citroën and Renault-Nissan each claim one third of production. BMW, Volvo, Jaguar and Land Rover account for the final third. The group has made significant investments over the last ten years to expand its machinery and above all its R&D equipment. The R&D centre (ninety engineers and technicians) aims to eliminate the metal parts of an engine and replace them with lighter, cheaper and ultra-efficient plastic parts that can reduce CO2 emissions from engines. The Mann+Hummel expertise is bringing in new markets. Thus, from 2018, the Louverné factory will be making 2.5 million parts a year for the Korean group Hyundai, which should create twenty or so jobs on the site. In addition, the French and European market has been growing since 2015. Forecasts are good for 2016.
