After five years of testing in actual conditions, ERDF commenced its national roll-out in early December of the first wave of Linky smart meters (goal 35 million by end 2021) which can be read remotely in real time. Two million Linky meters should be installed in Bretagne by 2020. B. Laurans, the ERDF regional director for Bretagne, estimates that two thousand meters a day should be installed in the region by end 2016 for an estimated investment of €300M. This is expected to benefit the regional economy. A leader in the multi-energy smart meter market, Sagemcom (Quévert & Dinan, 37 employees) has been chosen to manufacture 1.2 million Linky meters and five million Gazpar meters. This could mean the creation of 83 jobs within two years. Sagemcom is also looking forward to its international future. The Linky roll-out will also benefit the specialist in installing and maintaining communicating and connected objects systems, Airria (Grenoble) which has just settled in Surzur (Morbihan) after opening branches in Rennes, Saint-Malo and Dinan.
