Bpifrance paints a portrait of Piriou (Concarneau), a shipyard specialised in the construction and repair of artisanal and industrial fishing boats and whose size has tripled in 10 years.
Created in 1965, the shipyard quickly established a solid reputation. The 1990s were marked by its diversification with the jumboisation of a trawler, the expansion of the boat from 50 to 70 m, and the construction of an offshore supply vessel. Piriou wants to continue to combine the flexibility and efficiency of a human-sized shipyard and the industrial capacity of an international group.
Since the 2000s, the company has become internationalised. It is now present in Europe, Africa and Asia via 8 companies. It offers a comprehensive and customised range of design, maintenance and construction, creating fishing, passenger, freight, towing, offshore oil, scientific research and sea rescue boats. In the years since its creation, it has delivered 420 ships in 26 countries.
